DK-Exchange hosts Europe Minister visit

(Yorkshire UK) Minister for Europe Caroline Flint MP paid a visit to Digital Knowledge Exchange (DK-Exchange), praising their cutting-edge technology.

Ms Flint met with senior managers at the company, which received a £3.8m funding package from Objective One and SRB 6 to provide Small and Medium Sized Enterprises in South Yorkshire with easy and affordable access to interactive 3D computer visualisation and innovative new communication systems.

With the help of the European funding, DK-Exchange’s Leading Edge Technology Solutions (LETS) project has helped a number of regional firms ranging from Senior Aluminium Systems to Oak Holdings - the company behind the £350m YES! development in Rotherham.

During her visit, Ms Flint viewed some of the technology and spoke with DK-Exchange’s managing director Malcolm Kay, executive director Paul Thorpe and Ken Swain, the chief executive of partner organisation Kognitiv.

Ms Flint said: “These projects are testament to what we can achieve by working with and not isolating ourselves from, Europe. And they will continue to create jobs and opportunities for the region long after the funding has gone away.”

Malcolm Kay said: “It’s exciting to be identified as an exemplar of practice and delivery in the regeneration of South Yorkshire”

He continued: “This would not have occurred without the support of Doncasater College to sustain and assist the company as a subsidiary of the college, into the future.”

“This can only lead to increased GDP for the region through the creation of more jobs and new and innovative cutting edge technologies for the future.”

DK-Exchange is based at University Centre Doncaster, which is operated by Doncaster College.
